Boats, Rivers & Lakes
Have you ever driven a boat? Do you know how to navigate your way around rivers and lakes? If you are lucky enough to do this activity, that is exactly what you will get to do!
The Broads is a member of the National Park ‘family' but you can't really see them very well from the land. We like to see them from the water so we hire some boats and drive ourselves around the rivers and broads near Wroxham.
You WILL get a chance to drive the boat and navigate around the waterways (as long as you don't muck about). This is really good fun! You will also find out lots about The Broads and the creatures that live there as well as the dangers facing them and what can be done to save them.
One of the main threats to The Broads is flooding caused by rising sea levels so we also go to Sea Palling to see the sea defences there. These were designed to protect The Broads and have made the beach a really weird shape. We also go to Happisburgh which is the village that is falling into the sea (you might have seen it on the news) to see the cliff erosion which is such a danger to The Broads.
This day will teach you loads about The Broads PLUS you get to impress everyone back at home when they find out you know how to drive a boat!
