Gentle Giants

A visit to The Shire Horse Centre in West Runton is an opportunity to step back in time and see how, when and where horses were used before the invention of the car. There are many different kinds of horses and carriages, working displays and the option to feed the horses and other animals. The visit finishes with a cart ride pulled by a shire horse.

This is an ideal activity for your final morning. By this stage, the children are very tired and ready for home so it is not the time for anything too demanding. By contrast, this is a very mellow and pleasant way to round off the week. The children tend to enjoy it enormously because it involves animals but it is also an excellent way of bringing the Victorian experience of farming and transport to life.

There is plenty to occupy you here for a whole morning as well as a small a shop if the children haven't already spent all their money!
